A newsletter & forthcoming book by Vincent Rado.

High and Mighty: How People in Power Use Drugs explores the vast history of drug use by—and managed by—the upper class. I’ll examine both how powerful people use drugs on themselves, and how they use drugs on others. Tales of utter debauchery and paranoid control-freakery abound. And everything is cited.

The work is written primarily from a sociological perspective. However, due to the nature of the topic at hand, elements of political science and philosophy are sprinkled throughout. I am particularly interested in political epistemology and how it applies to drug policy and culture.

On this Substack, I’ll share notes and thoughts on my research as well as extended excerpts of the final product. Subscribers will also receive a physical copy of the finished book with a Founding Member subscription, an annual subscription, and/or 6+ months of a monthly subscription.

Join me as I explore in depth the drug culture of the elite.
